On 8 November, ICBAS – Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar of University of Porto marks the International One Health with an event open to society, inviting the public to take part in scientific sessions, debates and workshops dedicated to the interconnection between human, animal and environmental health.
The initiative will take place in the renovated Abel Salazar Building (entrance via Rua Prof. Vicente José de Carvalho), and the program includes:
- 3:00 p.m. | The Future of Science: One Health in Action science communication sessions, featuring young researchers presenting projects on topics as diverse as microbiota and cancer, autism, climate change and health in adventure sports, moderated by Professor Alexandre Quintanilha.
- 5:00 p.m. | Rethinking Health in Cities, roundtable with Dr Dalila Veiga, geographer José Alberto Rio Fernandes, architect Ana Neiva, and veterinarian Luís Montenegro, moderated by journalist Lúcia Gonçalves.
- 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. | Workshops for children and young people aged 6 to 15 years, where participants can be “Scientists for a Day” and explore topics such as water pollution and zoonotic diseases in a playful and hands-on way (15 places per workshop).
Participation is free, but subject to prior registration and room capacity.
