Surveillance of animal health is essential to prevent transmission of diseases to humans

From everything we know so far, and which goes far beyond conspiracy theories, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, originated in an animal. World Health Organization experts dispatched to Wuhan, China, concluded that the most likely scenario is a zoological origin, via an intermediate host, be it a bat or another animal that has not yet been identified.
